PYBA Board Meeting 9/19/22

 

September 19, 2022 6:00-7:00 p.m.

 

Board members present for meeting: Joe Nompleggi, Ashley O’Connor-Cowher, Allison Swiatlowski, Erin Braden, Kara Pear, Andrew St. George, Melanie Drewnowski, Nate Letendre, Holly Menard, Heather Brouillette, Chris, Lauren Ducey, Brandon, Amy Zajac

Public question regarding Instructional teams. Concern was addressed that instructional will no longer have games. Encouraged parent to contact CYO league to inquire about second and third grade team formation for game play. Instructional will be in a skills format starting this year.

 

Updates

• Registration is live. 15 people have registered their children so far. 7 have paid.
• In-person registration- there will be no paper forms need available. We hope to have board members bring computers or ipads to help during registration. There is concern regarding poor internet service at Converse.
• Hot button for 7 and 8 girls gender selection was fixed in the electronic registration form.
• Sponsorship letters were sent to board members by Kara on this date. If there are any new suggestions for the sponsorship letter, please share.

• Still looking for a sponsorship coordinator.
• Coaches-Nate will set up a group for evaluation. Evaluation will take about an hour.

Suburban update-

• Brandon will be attending the boy's meeting tomorrow. The girls meeting is on Thursday.
• There will be 1 team each boys/girls for 5^th/6^th and 7^th/8^th
• Tryouts:
• Boys 5/6 + 7/8 will be on 9/26 and 9/30 5:30-7:30
• Girls 5/6 will be on 9/27 6-7:30 and 10/2 5-6:30
• Girls 7/8 will be on 9/28 and 10/2,  6:30-8:00
• 3 practices a week. Games start in December. More to come after meetings.
• Clarification made to set up clear expectations and rules for consistency in attendance expectations and accountability. Idea presented to put these expectations on a handout for parents so there is no confusion. Attendance will impact play time on the court. 
  
  

Recreational update-

• Open gym and registration days 10/17 (6:00-8:00), 10/30 (10:00-12:00), 10/19 (6:00-8:00)
• We will be accepting payment, have jerseys to try on, and have open gym.
• Recreational basketball will have equal play time for all kids regardless of attendance to practice. See MIAA guidelines for clarification.
  
  

Other Business-

• 10/17 we will have a board meeting as well.
• BMC Photography for pictures. Date picked was 1/7/23 (Saturday). Kara will reach out to photographer.
• Scoreboard- idea was brought up to schedule people to run the scoreboard during games. Again suggestion to pay someone $10/game for better reliability. No decision made.
• Coaches meeting 11/7/22 at 6:00pm at Converse. At this meeting rules of play will be reviewed. CORI’s will also be performed.
